CORNWALL
Whenever we go on holiday we do the guidebooks, we look at all the websites, but when we actually get there we have to do all the finding-out that
many people have done before. We don't want you to have to duplicate our work. So while this page isn't everything about Cornwall, it's the things that
might save you a bit of time.
Bath: [We know it's not in Cornwall but it's a good place to stop on the way]
Try Room 14, a feature double with its own staircase. Great breakfast included in the price, and late-night bar
A must-see attraction, with lots of artefacts and newly-excavated underground rooms
The new Bath attraction, which went massively over-budget, but is good value for all the different outdoor hot spa bathsKingsley Village, Fraddon:
Lots of paintings, sculpture, glassware, and all by Cornish artists
Truro:
Don't miss the Desire Cafe on the 2nd floor, and all the designer rails in the store
A converted church, with ground-floor bar and balcony restaurant, excellent seafood, and much better decor than its previous incarnation as a medieval banqueting hall!Boscastle:
The scene of dreadful floods in 2004, but rebuilt with great gift shops and cafesTintagel:
Padstow:
Rick Stein basically owns this town, with his own shops, restaurants, and this very popular take-away/cafe - be ready to queue!
On the quayside, great for people-watching, with ice-cream bar downstairs and restaurant above. We recommend the tuna steaks.Falmouth:
Decorated in a Planet Hollywood style, but don't let that put you off. The best place for early morning fry-ups.
St Ives:
This place is fantastic, with every room having a sea-view, and easy access for town
Fab sculpture garden by one of St Ives' most famous artists
Drive from St Ives to St Just along B3306:
